Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019). This data is collected and used by state and federal governments to broadly plan for the support of students with disability across the nation.
Learning and Support Teachers within schools work closely with teachers using formal diagnosis provided to schools regarding students and categories of disability which include: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional. Students who have been provided with supplementary, substantial or extensive support for a period of 10 weeks or more are included in the data.
The official government letter providing further detail will be provided to our families this week. If you have further questions please contact your class teacher, Mrs Reid or myself.
Thank you to our SIPPS Community
Over the weekend we have had some intruders onto school property who have created a range of issues for our school structures and playground and overall made an enormous mess.
Thank you to the wonderful Raine and Johnson families where parents and students spent great deal of time on Sunday making the school grounds safe and tidy for all our students this morning. Your commitment to our school is just amazing.
If you see any intruders or people who are not respecting our school property, buildings or grounds in a suitable manner, please call SCHOOL SECURITY on 1300 88 00 21 or if immediate risk is obvious please call police on 000.
Stage 3 - Great Aussie Bush Camp
The Stage 3 students were a delightful group to take to camp according to our teachers. They participated well in the wide range of planned activities. Please see their report further in this newsletter.
Thank you to our teaching staff Miss Emerson, Mrs Woodwell and Mr Dimmers for taking the time away from your families to take our Stage 3 students to camp for the three days and two nights. Your dedication is very much appreciated.

Roofing Schedule – changes to original planning
The D Block roof has been changed and is almost complete as per the agreed schedule. It is looking good and there has been minimal impact for the school or student learning.
While the school had negotiated to have our roof changes occur on weekends to diminish impact on student learning, this cannot continue. Next week discussions and planning will occur as the roofing contractors are now required to reschedule their work during school days. This is a direct result of a noise complaint over the weekend from a local resident, not due to the roofing contractor. Classes will relocate to other classrooms during the scheduled work.
Thank you to our families, extended school community and Community Use clients for your patience during this transition process.
Best Wishes,
Caroline English

Art

Throughout Reconciliation Week the students were inspired by different types of Aboriginal artwork during their art lessons. Kindy and Year 1/2 students drew around their hands and added colourful dots, these looked very effective and the students enjoyed stamping their dots. Year 3/4 students designed their own Wandjinas, Aboriginal rain and cloud spirits, they used oil pastel on brown paper to create their artwork. The Year 5/6 students chose a native Australian animal and created their own piece of art, these have been displayed together to create a group piece of work which looks very effective. Overall all the students enjoyed created their artwork! Well done everyone!

Surprise Package
This week each child will receive a “surprise” package from the P&C to take home - please look out for it.
Inside the bag is a pack of five delicious Twinings Infuse tea bags for you to enjoy while taking some time out to consider the positive impact an infusion of additional resources will have for our wonderful school.
Each year the P&C asks all parents for a voluntary contribution that is used to fund initiatives not covered by the Department of Education – a great way we can all contribute to support our school.
Please read the insert that accompanies the package to find out how you can help and how funds are put to good use.
We thank you in advance for your generosity.
