Whirling through Term 4
We are now whirling through the weeks of Term 4 and are already halfway through the final term of the year. There are many upcoming events so please keep an eye on the calendar.
Gold medal morning tea
Proud parents joined the Gold Medal Morning Tea recipients for a feast. Congratulations to our students who have worked so very hard to achieve their gold medal this semester. A positive attitude, hard work and persistence enables students to strive for their personal best.

Leaders visit Parliament House
I was incredibly fortunate to accompany our school leaders at Parliament House in Week 4.

Jo, Eloise and Darren represented St Ives Park Public School when school leaders from local schools were invited to meet with our local member to experience the history of Parliament House.
Remembrance Day
We were able to observe Remembrance Day as a whole school and using our flag pole for the first time in many years.

While it was a sombre occasion, Olivia, Nina, Neil and Ryan led the occasion beautifully under the leadership of Mrs Follows.
Have you seen our pavers?
Our new pavers look sensational! We are delighted to share that our 50th Birthday pavers have been installed.
Parents and carers are able to view the pavers before school and in the school holidays when the school is open for Share Our Space. Check with the QR code to identify when the school space is shared.
New Curriculum Information Evening
Mrs Hayllar and Mrs Wright led our parent community in an informative session regarding the 2023 new curriculum and shared examples of how our students learn in class in English and Mathematics.
It was just wonderful to see so many enthusiastic parents at the curriculum information evening in Week 4 this term. Thank you for the terrific feedback from this session and we plan to offer more sessions in 2023 to support the learning for students at home by engaging with our community.
Reporting to parents and carers
Teachers complete formal written reports to families twice per school year. Teachers are currently busy completing Semester 2 reports which will be issued to parents and carers on Wednesday 7th December, 2022
Reports are a summary of your child's progress for each semester. The majority of students are expected to achieve in the sound level on school reports. Achievement is assessed and identified across the five bands which include:
Outstanding, High, Sound, Basic, Limited
It is vital that all students know that there is always more to learn and that learning is a journey throughout their lives.
We are all striving to become Successful, Lifelong Learners!

Did you know?
Recently Hamish shared his passion for music with the school. He performed for the school assembly and demonstrated his musical prowess on the double bass. Hamish also represented the school at the State Band camp earlier this year. Thank you Hamish for sharing your talent with the school community!
Art
As usual it's been very busy in the art room with a range of materials and media being used to create wonderful artwork.
- Year 6 students have had the chance to get creative with the clay to make their own three-dimensional outcome. They created a base of a double pinch pot which makes a hollow sphere for them to build upon. We have had some wonderful creations such as dogs, whales, monsters and human heads. The students always enjoy this project as it gives them lots of freedom to get creative.

- Year 3 - 5 students experimented with negative and positive space and produced a wonderful array of striking outcomes. Using two pieces of paper, one A3 white and one A5 black, scissors and glue they got very creative and blew me away with what they produced. This artwork is on display in their classrooms and adding a lot of interest to the space. They have also been working on producing black and white landscapes using a variety of patterns. These look very effective and the students have expanded their knowledge of dark, mid and light patterns.

- Kindergarten, Year 1 and 2 students got to create a Halloween silhouette artwork and were very excited to take their artwork home to put on display for Halloween. They got to choose what they were going to draw from a selection of images such as bats, houses, trees and pumpkins. They have also been working on creating a colourful hot air balloon outcome which they were very happy to take home and show off.
Choir
Congratulations to the SIPPS Choir on their recent performance at the Festival of Children’s Music. Our students joined with choirs from seven other schools in the Northern Sydney Region to create a beautiful, combined choir, which entertained a large audience at the Chatswood Concourse. They have worked so hard all year to learn the repertoire and have gained skills in reading music, singing and performance.
The SIPPS Choir looks forward to entertaining you again at the end of year Presentation Day on Wednesday 7th December.
Congratulations girls, I am so proud of your hard work and the enthusiasm you have brought to choir this year!

Band
Junior band - The Junior band will perform this Wednesday, 16th November at assembly. They have been practicing “Mickey Mouse March” to showcase to their peers.
Senior band - This coming Tuesday morning, the Senior band members will be demonstrating their musical instruments to the Year 2 and Year 3 students.
It's a great way for your child to hear each instrument before selecting 3 instruments to try before joining the band in 2023.
Private Instrumental lessons - Action Music has private instrumental lessons at the school. Private lessons are available on clarinet, flute , saxophone, trumpet, trombone and guitar.
David Bradley is an exceptional guitar teacher.
Hire instruments are available, so you don’t need to purchase an instrument.
