Principal’s Message
SASS Week – We are very lucky at SIPPS!
Last week we acknowledged our School Administrative Support Staff in the wonderful role they fulfill for our school.
Our Student Liaison Support Officers Micaela Martinez and Dean Ohtahro have been working to support all our on site learners each week throughout the Term. They are very caring and encouraging to ensure students are completing their tasks. They are a real asset to our SASS team.
I cannot thank Rhonda, Wim and Cathie enough for all they bring to our school. Wim is always improving our school grounds and takes great pride in our beautiful school. Rhonda and Cathie are often the first members of staff that parents and community meet or speak with when they contact our school. Both of these ladies have such a positive attitude and nurturing manner. I hope you will join with me in celebrating the work of all our dedicated SASS team.
Returning in 2022?
Enrolments 2022 – Note to all parents
There will be a letter emailed to all families this week. It will request families indicate their planning and identify if their child will or will not be returning to SIPPS for 2022. You may complete the form here
https://forms.gle/L25pqvU9DR1D3e7d6
Each year all NSW Public Schools are asked in August to indicate their anticipated enrolments for the following school year. This means parents need to inform the school that their child will be returning to St Ives Park Public school in 2022.
This year I would like to request all parents complete the following link to indicate their child/ren’s enrolment at SIPPS for 2022. This is vitally important for the school to be able to identify numbers of student for 2022 and plan for our staffing. We receive our teacher allocation according to the numbers of students who are enrolled in our school. Please complete the form this week before we all proceed on holidays.
Kindergarten Q+A Zoom Meeting
Thank you to our P&C representatives for joining our school Executive team last Wednesday night to engage with our Kindergarten parents for 2022. Many of our current and some new families joined the panel team to provide SIPPS specific information and to answer those questions parents have prior to their child starting school.
NAPLAN results 2021 – Year 3 and Year 5 parents
The NAPLAN results have been returned to school ready for distribution to families. Overall the school has demonstrated pleasing growth for Year 5 students between Year 3 and 5, and the targets set by the DoE have been met for 2021. More information will be provided in the Term 4 newsletter to keep you informed.
On Monday and Wednesday Mrs Fazzolari and I will be available at Gate 1 between 10:00 to 10:30am to hand envelopes to parents or carers. Any envelopes which cannot be collected at these times will be posted to families. Students who are at school will bring their envelopes home to their parents. Please remember that under the current Health and Education guidelines only authorised personnel are allowed on site which is why we will be at the gate to facilitate collection.
Uniform Shop Term 4 and 2022
Are you finding the time at home dragging a little? So many weeks at home? You might consider taking on a new challenge which would really support all members of our school community. We are looking for an interested member of the community who would be willing to participate in or take on the role of Uniform Shop co-ordinator for 2022. Training and support will be provided in 2021. You might have a friend who you are keen to work with in this role. The more the merrier! If you have an inkling of interest, are really keen or would like to know more, please contact the school and we will assist you.

Farewell Term 3 – Happy Holidays
I really hope our community are enjoying the student work in the newsletters. Our students have strived in their learning throughout this term in the face of many unexpected challenges. All members of our parent community deserve an enormous pat on the back and round of applause for the ongoing balancing act and nurturing you have provided your children at home. You have done an amazing job keeping students online in their Zoom lessons, submitting their tasks and participating in their Google Classrooms. You all deserve a medal!
We know that everyone’s energy and engagement is waning at the end of term so we have planned Week 10 Wellbeing Week to enable students to continue with their core reading and Mathematics tasks and also enabling families to know that there are fewer tasks this week to submit.
Access to School Site
The external safety fencing team are now on site and all members of the school community are advised that access is only via Gates 1 and 2 on Acron Road until further notice. When students return to school from Monday 25th October, I will advise at that point the Covid safe access and departure planning.
Artwork @ St Ives
If you are going to St Ives Shopping Village, take a moment to view the outstanding SIPPS student artworks curated by the wonderful Mrs Stone. The creativity of our student artists never ceases to amaze.
Healthy and Safe Holidays
Although I realise many parents may not be taking a break from their work, there will be a break from Learning From Home. Time for all our students, parents and staff to take a well earned break, enjoy some sunshine and actively participate in more green time and less screen time over the break!
My warmest wishes to our SIPPS Community for a safe and happy school holiday fortnight.

Kindy Rainbow work samples
Kindergarten continues to work hard with their online learning. We are continuing to focus on mini number talks, showing our flexible understanding. We are expanding on explaining the different ways numbers make sense to us. K Rainbow are searching for patterns and are developing the variety of ways they can represent our number talk focus. William is able to see and represent this dot number talk multiple ways.
K/1 Turquoise work samples
This piece of writing is by Chloe who is in Kindergarten in K/1T. Chloe has started to write her own fairy tale. For this task she is making the reader think "oooh" by introducing an interesting character. Chloe has used lots of really good adjectives to describe the princess. I can't wait to read the rest of her story. Well done Chloe.
1/2 Emerald work samples
In our Wellbeing Zoom, 1/2E looked at rainbows in the story 'The World Made a Rainbow'. This story looked at how students in the United Kingdom dealt with lockdown. The students in the book made rainbows that they put up in their windows for people on walks to look at. Anna dressed in rainbow and hung hers up in this picture for us - well done Anna!
3/4 Purple work samples
Stage 2 have been investigating the structure and language devices used in persuasive writing to convince the reader of the author's point of view. Students know that authors use such language devices as; high modality vocabulary, rhetorical questions, personal pronouns and connectives, as well as a set text structure. Can you find the language devices Sophia, in 3/4 Purple has used to convince readers that it is important for children to play outside?
It Is Important For Children To Play Outside
There is no doubt that it is important for children to play outside. It is good for both their bodies and minds.
Firstly, when you are outside you can spend some time in the sun. The sun is essential for Vitamin D. As everyone knows, Vitamin D is essential for growing new bones.
Furthermore, children need fresh air. Fresh air clears your mind, makes you feel good and strong. How could you get fresh air just sitting indoors? Maybe, you could open a window, but clearly it would be better to go outside.
Finally, there are so many games children can play outside. There are many active games, such as tip and hide and seek which help children keep fit and healthy. Alternatively, there are quiet games which make people quiet and calm.
In conclusion, for all these reasons I think children should go outside more often.

3/4 Yellow work samples
This term Stage 2 have been exploring the artwork of various artists and examining their techniques. Andy Goldsworthy, Henri Matisse, Andy Warhol and Piet Mondrian have inspired the following masterpieces from 3/4 Yellow.
5/6 Blue work samples
In such difficult and turbulent times 5/6 Blue have been writing about some of the wonderful things in our lives that we are grateful for. This is what Rachael wrote.
By Rachael
I feel grateful for my mum, dad and brothers because when I'm really confused with school work, or I'm having trouble doing it. They are always there to help. My dad often helps me with geography, my mum and brothers help me with math and my mum helps me come up with something to write about when it is free writing!
I’m grateful for my parents, because they do so much for me and my brothers. They buy the groceries for us, they cook dinner for us, they clean the house for us and they do much more.
I’m grateful for the sun and the rain that God has sent us, because if there is no rain we will be in drought. If there is no sun the plants and crops will not grow (unless you use fertilizer).
And last but not least, I’m grateful for all the teachers at school or at home. Helping us learn, and I know your job is very stressful and hard so thank you for everything!
5/6 Pink work samples
This week we wrote about why you are grateful to live in Australia, we asked students to think about why they value these things. This task allows students to think beyond themselves and create more positive emotions.
By Ella
I am so grateful and blessed to live in Australia because it is a wealthy country with great health care, food, water and freedom. Some other unfortunate countries like Afghanistan don't have any of that which is horrible for example, they don't have vaccines for covid and they have no health care.
Bushland and parks during covid, I am blessed to have nature, bushland and parks so I can go out and play with my friends and get off screen time. Some countries don't have bushland or any of that so we should be grateful for all the things the earth and our families give us.
The weather in Australia is beautiful and I am grateful to have this weather because when it's hot I can go to the beach, my pool and friend’s pool. When it's cold I can dance in the rain with my friends, watch movies and drink hot chocolate.
Freedom, I am so happy Australia has freedom for example, we except people no matter if their skin is different, speak a different language, come from a different country, we accept them.
This is why I am so thankful of what the earth has to offer, so go outside and be grateful for what you have because not everyone has what you have.

Uniform Shop
How good is our Uniform Shop service…. order on QKR and have it delivered straight to your child’s bag! And, did you know the Uniform Shop made over $10,000 profit for the P&C last year? This goes straight back into resources for your kids. This can happen because of our wonderful volunteers. However, we need a new Uniform Shop Manager and casual volunteers from next year, as Mercy’s kids will be heading off to high school. This is a fun and rewarding role that you can make your own, usually once a fortnight, on the day of your choice. We would like to onboard and train someone up in Term 4 this year before she leaves.
