Celebration Messages for the 2019 school year at SIPPS
Last Wednesday evening we celebrated the successful learning journey that our students, staff and school community have made together during 2019. Congratulations to every student who gave their personal best throughout the year.
Throughout 2019, evidence of this success has been seen, heard, shared and celebrated at a range of school events including Book Week, Education Week, The SIPPS Spectacular, Presentation Evening and especially the 50th Birthday Celebration.
Each year parents, staff and students are asked to provide information regarding their engagement with the school. This year our parents who responded indicated that they felt informed and that the school supports learning for their children. Some parents did indicate that their children are not discussing their learning goals. This will be an area of focus into the new school year. Pleasingly, parents identified that the school environment is well maintained and inviting. A positive sense of community and the belief that teachers and the leadership team are approachable and engaged were satisfying areas that parents also identified in their responses. Thank you to our parents who took the time to respond to the Tell Them From Me survey this year.
Students in Years 4, 5 and 6 are also surveyed each year. Students indicated that:-
92% feel they have high participation in sports and clubs in the school context;
86% of students feel they have positive behaviours whilst at school;
89% of students feel they have high levels of effort demonstrated in their learning;
92% of students indicated that they value their schooling outcomes and
87% felt they have positive relationships in the school setting.
SIPPS Parents and Citizens 2019
Our P&C have excelled this year, under the wonderful leadership of Mrs Emmy Druce and her team. They have created new events such as the SIPPS Camp Out, while also hosting the student disco and their organisation behind the scenes for the 50th Birthday was phenomenal. Through a range of sources, P&C have purchased new guided readers for students in K-2 and 3-6. They reinvigorated the whole play area by enabling the installation of the new playground equipment. Excitingly, in 2020 the P&C will also fund the shade sails in order to cover the play equipment which will be installed later in 2020. An enormous thank you to our SIPPS parents and especially our P&C team.
Our parents transformed the hall for the Year 6 farewell into a golden, star-studded event.

This glittering location was filled with Year 6 stars and very keen Year 5 students who took their roles seriously!
An enormous thank you to Mr Tim McLean Smith and his wonderful team who worked so very hard to make the evening full of lasting memories for our departing students.

It has been a pleasure to work with our 2019 Year 5 students as they prepared for their Year 6 leadership learning and responsibilities. Our new Kindergarten students and their families for 2020 have participated in a range of transition opportunities, including school tours, the Teddy Bear’s Picnic and the two Kindergarten Orientation sessions.
Event Filled Week 9 at SIPPS – Year 6 Mini-Fete
It would be remiss of me not to mention, there were several big events last week. Year 6 Graduation Dinner Dance on Monday, Presentation Evening on Wednesday and to conclude the week and possibly the absolute highlight for our students the Year 6s students hosted their Mini-Fete on Friday.

Our Year 6 students worked tirelessly behind the scenes to create a range of engaging food, fashion and activity stalls for the younger SIPPS students. There were opportunities for students to throw sponges, participate in an obstacle course, have their hair spray painted all colours of the rainbow. Many students and teachers alike enjoyed the cupcakes and lollies on sale during the fete.
The Mini-fete in 2019 was extremely successful in raising just over $1000 at their fete! The Year 6 students in preliminary discussions have identified they are considering purchasing new bike racks as their gift to our school. Thank you to our 2019 Year 6 students (and their families) for all their hard work and enthusiasm to make this event so successful and enjoyable for one and all last Friday!
Years 1 to 6 return to school Wednesday 29th January 2020
When students return in 2020 they will remain in their 2019 class groups for the first week of school. All Department of Education schools are required to ascertain student numbers for staffing each year and we will need to ensure that all anticipated students have indeed returned and that our new 2020 Kindergarten students complete the enrolment processes. When we have been able to ensure student numbers we will proceed.
SIPPS security during the holiday break
During 2019 SIPPS has hosted the Share our Space Program several times. This December / January, the school is not part of the program. The only officially recognised people with a Community Hire contract during the holiday is the St Ives Family Church who will attend the school on Sunday mornings. No other people should be on the premises, unless they have hired the tennis courts through our official P&C channels.
As we have had increasing incidences of vandalism this year, please be vigilant on behalf of our school community. Therefore, if you see suspicious activity at the school during the school holiday break, I kindly ask that that you ring 000 for Police assistance or School Security on 1300 880 021.
I am really looking forward to a wonderful year in 2020, working with our students, dedicated staff and delightful parent community. Wishing everyone in the SIPPS school community a wonderful and safe holiday break.
Best wishes,
Caroline English

Personalised Brick Paving
As many of you would have seen at the wonderful SIPPS 50th Display yesterday, as part of the 50th birthday we are offering the opportunity to have a named paver at SIPPS. There are plans to create a lovely new path /garden up the centre of the school (where the old climbing frame was) and for the flagpole to be moved. The plan is to place the named pavers either around the flagpole or along the path – depending on the number of engraved pavers we have. There are 2 options – formal or a free style style. If you look closely at the pavers on the picture you can see both. For freestyle – the children can write their names and draw a little picture – for those interested I will furnish more details of the process.
We are selling these pavers at $30 each or $50 for 2. Each paver allows for 48 characters. The display paver is at the office if you would like to have a closer look.
Typically pavers will either have the invididual childs name “Cora Lily Reaper” maybe with the year they started at school “Cora Lily Reaper 2016” or just the family name “The Reaper Family 2015 ” or “Declan, Braedon & Cora Reaper 2015” etc.
This is open to anyone that attended this school – past or present – so please feel free to forward on to any of you friends who previously attended SlPPS.
Please feel free to mail bricks4sipps@gmail.com with any questions or to further your order. We will create the facility to buy a paver via QKR or via EFT.
