Principal’s Message
Last week it was so exciting to see all the smiling faces as SIPPS students returned to school. Our teachers were at the gates to welcome students from Monday to Thursday.
While chatting with the students, many reported they were looking forward to seeing their teachers and friends. Many students commented that it was like starting the school year over again with a few nerves as well as smiles.
While we are in Phase 1 – one day at school and four days learning at home, please remember to create the flowers for our Field of Flowers which we will share when we are all back in Phase 3. There are many creative and beautiful flowers and arrangements arriving at school already! Keep those flowers coming.
Kindergarten 2021
We are accepting enrolments for Kindergarten students for 2021. In the coming weeks please look out for Pearls from the Park in the Newsletter and on the school Face Book page. As we are unable to conduct school tours at present we will provide a virtual guided tour at SIPPS for Term 2. Please let your friends know if they have young children ready to start school in 2021.
Reporting to Parents – Semester One 2020

In the interim, teachers are conducting assessments with students on the days they are in attendance at school. We are focusing on reading, writing and mathematics during our Phase 1 learning days.

Parent health and safety
Thank you to all our parents who have been socially distancing during drop off and collection of SIPPS students last week. Please remember that parents are required during Phases 1 and 2 to drop off their children at the gate and remain outside the school grounds.

Cleaning – Day cleaning at SIPPS
The Department of Education has three layers of cleaning in place during Term 2.

Information from Class Teachers
Kindergarten and Stage 1
Dear Parents/Carers,
On behalf of all of the teachers from K-2, I would like to once again take this opportunity to thank you for all for your ongoing support and understanding during this time. The Google classroom online learning platform continues to provide the basis of our learning and students are uploading some fantastic work. It has been so nice to see the students come in for their one allocated day of learning this week during Phase 1 of returning to school. Your student’s allocated day will remain the same in Week 4. If, for any reason you need to send your child to school on a day other than their allocated day, they are more than welcome. They will participate in their online learning with a teacher in a designated space.
Could we please remind all of you to ensure that your child has their own supplies? This is simply to maintain hygiene in the classrooms. Please do not go out and buy new supplies if your child still has their things at school. Only replenish if they do not have their own pencils, whiteboard markers, erasers etc…
Kind Regards
N. Mills
Stage 2
Stage 2, we missed you!
It was wonderful to see the children last week! The highlight of each day was greeting the students at the gate, welcoming them back to school. Some apprehensive, some not looking back. We enjoyed reflecting on our online learning journey so far and shared some break time activities that have been getting us through these isolating times. We are looking forward to seeing the children for their second visit this week and settling in to more class learning. We continue to be impressed with the enthusiasm and the quantity of work completed online, and acknowledge the big part you pay in keeping students motivated and on track.

Art News
Thank you for all the wonderful flowers that have been brought into school for our whole school 'Field of Flowers' art project, They all look amazing! There has been lots of different materials used such as straws, egg cartons, foam, plastic bottles and lots of origami flowers which look beautiful.
If you haven't created your flower yet there is plenty of time to get creative and bring it into school next time you are in.
I look forward to seeing them all and I can't wait to create a display out of them when we return to school.
Have fun and get creative!!

Stage 3
It was absolutely wonderful seeing our Stage 3 students last week, teachers and students alike were beaming and there were even tears of joy from Miss Emerson!
Stage 3 have begun their Earth Parliament unit: where they create their own state, its constitution, assign parliamentary roles & track their country's spending. It has been fun seeing the students work together and watch their states develop.
We look forward to continue seeing our students in class & online over the next few weeks.
