Book Week
What a wonderful morning to celebrate books and reading at SIPPS!
Book characters were everywhere to be seen and the range of characters was just amazing. There are some very creative students and parents in our community. Thank you to Mrs Jahn for organising the parade for our SIPPS students and community this year.
It was wonderful to see so many members of the SIPPS community present at the Book Parade and remain for the morning tea picnic. Thank you for supporting this event.
Stage Coach continues
This week concludes the Year 6 student visits to St Ives High School for their high school transition sessions. Thank you to Miss Emerson and Mrs Woodwell for all your organisation.

ART
This week we were all enjoying book week and Kindy and 1/2 Red were inspired by a book called 'Rainbow Bear' during their art lesson. Each of the Kindy students painted a section of their bear and managed to put it back together to create a fabulous looking bear. 1/2 Red also decorated a section of a bear which looks amazing once it was back together!! Well done everyone, they'll look really wonderful in your classrooms!!

Recorder Ensemble and Senior Choir
In Weeks 1 and 3 this term the Recorder Ensemble and the Senior Choir proudly performed at the Sydney Opera House. The Recorder Ensemble played three pieces in the Festival of Instrumental Music which showcases the talents of amazing musicians from public schools throughout New South Wales. They performed alongside hundreds of other recorder players and the resulting sound was magnificent! The Senior Choir sang in the Arts Alive Choral Concert, which featured vocal ensembles from the Northern Sydney region. They memorised ten songs for this concert, putting in many hours of hard work at lunchtimes. Congratulations to both groups on their dedication and hard work.
Senior Choir

Choir and Recorder Ensemble will continue to rehearse for performance opportunities later in the year.
Students from years 3-6 are invited to join Recorder Ensemble, which rehearses on Tuesday lunchtimes. This is a great opportunity to develop musical skills and work towards performing as part of the 2020 Festival of Instrumental Music. If your child is interested in being part of Recorder Ensemble please fill in the permission slip below.
Bandemonium – Band News
Last week, 15 students from St Ives Park Primary performed at the Ryde Eisteddfod.
It was a wonderful day to meet new music friends and produce some outstanding music and perform in front of other schools.
The band students performed Rock a Saurus Rex and Star Wars!
For our first competition we scored 85/100, which is a fabulous result!
While we didn’t place first, (only first place was awarded 90/100) the students should be commended on the great result and their exemplary behaviour.
I am so proud of how our students have tackled the challenges of the Eisteddfod pieces. Our program is continually improving as our students improve and produced music of a high standard.
Our ensemble sound has matured, and we played with a true sense of style! The musicians' fun and energy shone through in their performance. I would like to thank everyone for the countless practice hours they have put in, as well as the parents for the countless hours nagging them to do said practice!
The best part of the day for me was asking everyone as they came off stage - "Did you have fun!"
Unanimously the answer was "Yes!!"
Thank you also to the lovely parents who volunteered to drive the children to the event.

P&C Voluntary Contribution
Contributions have been very low this year. This is the P&C annual voluntary contribution ask and is different to the school term fees. This is our major fundraiser each year and funds projects such as the playground last year, shade for the playground this year, and we have further projects on the wish list such as an outdoor sound system and a new front entrance landscaping. We have included suggested amounts in the letter below, however please contribute whatever amount you can. Thank you for those who have supported us.
