‘Respect Yourself, Respect Others and Respect Your School’
Principal’s Message
Special Thank you
Many of you would be aware that Mrs Morris will be retiring from her job as Senior Administrative Manager at the end of this week. Mrs Morris has provided outstanding service and care to the students, staff and parents of our public school system for 20 years. The SIPPS learning community has been very fortunate to have Mrs Morris at the school for this entire time. We thank Trudi for her wonderful commitment to our school and wish her a happy and adventurous retirement.
Tomorrow morning at 9:30am there will a special thank you assembly in the hall for Mrs Morris. Parents and past students are welcome to attend.
Outstanding Student Performances
Congratulations to students who recently performed at the Sydney North Dance Festival and Multi-Cultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition for representing our school with skill and enthusiasm. I was very proud to be there and witness our students showcasing their talents. Thank you to the SIPPS teachers who have given many hours of their personal time to make these opportunities available to SIPPS students. Thank you to SIPPS parents for supporting these programs in our school.

Mille Grazie
Last Wednesday SIPPS students enjoyed a delicious special Italian lunch prepared by our P&C special lunch committee. Students enjoyed pizza and spaghetti bolognaise and refreshing gelato. Many thanks to our P&C and parent volunteers who produced and prepared the delicious menu. Molto Delizioso!
P & C Disco for Students
P&C disco for students will be the first Friday back in Term 3. Please ensure that your child has brought their note and money in for this event prior to the school holidays to avoid disappointment.
Ethics Teacher
SIPPS is lucky to have parents and community members who volunteer their time to improve learning opportunities for our students. We greatly appreciate the positive contribution they make to our school across many areas. There is currently an opportunity for a volunteer to deliver Ethics lessons in our school. Please see the following flyer for details.
Special Parent Forum
The Ku-ring-gai Community of Schools is pleased to host a seminar with Dr Michael Carr-Gregg focusing on anxiety. Dr Michael Carr Gregg is one of Australia's highest profile psychologists, author of 10 books, broadcaster and a specialist in parenting, children, adolescents and the use of technology for mental health. This will take place on Monday 17th July from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at St Ives HS hall. The cost is $15. Please see the following link to book your place.
SIPPS Sport Stars
At SIPPS we are committed to promoting the importance of sports and a physically active lifestyle in general as well as positive sportsmanship.
The school already provides students with a wide range of physical education opportunities during school/class sport sessions and at playtime. We would like to further recognise all K-6 students who keep our school’s proud tradition of sports and active play.
To promote and motivate positive use of expectations in play and to enable students to practise key fundamental movement skills we will be introducing the Sports Stars Initiative in Term 3. This coincides also with our school’s involvement in the 2016 Premier’s Sporting Challenge (PSC). Ms Sheehy and our house captains have already created a resource bank of sports equipment to be distributed to those students who are rewarded a Sports Star Card for demonstrating the school’s expectations of respect, responsibility and personal best.
Today our K-6 students enjoyed glorious weather and fully participated in our Athletics Carnival at Bannockburn Oval in Pymble. All students who ran in a race or participated in a field event earned a point for their house. Points for carnivals as well as Catch Cards accumulate towards the Heroes of the House Day for the overall winning house.
Happy Holidays
Friday 30th June is the final day for Term 2. I would like to wish all SIPPS families a safe and happy winter holiday. School resumes for all students on Tuesday 18 July. Please book with the Helping Hands OOSH if you would like to use their service for the Term 3 Pupil Free day, Monday 17 July. Their contact number is: 0475 838 226. Please see the following for further information.

Inspiring & Nurturing Successful Lifelong Learners
Kindergarten
On Monday 19th June, Golden Ridge Animal Farm came to visit our school to teach Kindergarten more about farm animals. Kindergarten students enjoyed holding ducklings, chicks and rabbits. They had lots of fun feeding goats and lambs. The students were even able to bottle feed the goats.
Students enjoyed learning interesting facts about the animals from Farmer Callum. The visit was an excellent opportunity for students to consolidate their understanding of ‘Living Things’ which we have been focusing on in Science this term.

Sydney North Dance Festival
The Senior and Junior Dance Groups have had two performances at the Sydney North Dance Festival over the last week. Each group has worked extremely hard over the past 2 terms, in preparation for The Sydney North Dance Festival.
The Junior Dance group’s performance piece was to “Wake Me Up” by Avicii. The Senior Dance Group performed a hip hop/ jazz routine to Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling”. The Dance groups thoroughly enjoyed performing their routines to an audience during the festival. They are to be commended on their effort and their commitment in performing spectacular performance pieces.
SIPPS ‘War on Waste’
At the recent environ-mentors workshop, Stage 2 learnt how they could show respect for the natural environment by managing waste in responsible ways. It is important for students to learn about sustainable ways of living.
