Principal's Message
Welcome back
Welcome back to all our students, staff and parents. Welcome also to Mr Damien Vaughan who is relieving as our K-2 Assistant Principal while Mrs Anderson is on leave. Mrs Allman will also be taking leave over the next few weeks, so this Thursday we welcome Ms Bronwen Campbell. Welcome also to our new school counsellor, Ms Beatrijs Dewulf. She will be working at SIPPS on Mondays. It is hard to believe that it is almost the end of the year already! It was a pleasure to see our students return to school looking refreshed and very smart in their correct summer uniform. As the end of the year approaches we look forward to a busy and productive Term 4.
School Uniform
Thank you to parents for ensuring that summer school uniforms are ready for the new season. The school believes that the wearing of a school uniform promotes positive community perception of SIPPS and public education. It is also a way that students demonstrate the school expectation of Respect as it is a reflection on how they value themselves and others. Below is a list of the elements in our girls and boys summer school uniform.
Summer Uniform - Girls
- Green and white striped dress with red tag at neck;
- Short green socks
- Black school shoes
- School hat and
- Green or red ribbons
Summer Uniform - Boys
- Grey summer weight shorts
- Green short-sleeved school shirt
- Short grey school socks with red band
- Black school shoes and
- School hat
Please be advised that students should change into black school shoes after sports or dance training on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Uniform for Year 6 students also includes their graduation jersey.
World Teachers' Day
World Teachers' Day was inaugurated by UNESCO in 1994 to focus attention on the extraordinary contributions and achievements of teachers. In 2016, the World Teachers' Day slogan is "Valuing Teachers, Improving their Status" and was held on Monday 5th October. This is the day on which the community pays tribute to the thousands of teachers in our schools. Please take some time to thank your teacher for the important work they do.
Carnival of Cultures
With the Carnival of Cultures fast approaching, our P&C have continued to work hard in preparation for the big day. It is guaranteed to be a fun filled event for all the family. This is a great opportunity to raise much needed funds for our multipurpose learning centre and strengthen our ties with the wider community. We welcome all friends and family across Ku-ring-Gai community to join us on Sunday 30 October. We would also like to recognise all the amazing efforts of our P&C and parent community who are bringing this event to fruition.

Festival of Children's Music
Good luck to our junior choir this week as they take part in the Festival of Children's Music performance at Chatswood Concourse. On Tuesday 18 October the students will have the opportunity to showcase their choral skills as part of the combined choir during both the matinee and evening performances. Our junior choir has demonstrated great dedication and enthusiasm throughout their performances at school and rehearsals throughout the year.
Presentation Assemblies
Throughout the year we have seen students develop their knowledge and understanding, set themselves goals and strive to achieve with a growth mindset across all areas of learning. On Tuesday 6 December we welcome parents to join us in celebrating the achievements of all our students across K-6. Our K-2 Presentation Assembly will be from 5-6.30 and 3-6 Presentation Assembly will run from 7-8.30 in the school hall.
Student Reports
It is that time of year again! The Semester Two reports will be due to come to you on Friday 9 December. We would encourage parents and children to read his/her report together, taking time to discuss areas of strengths and identifying any areas needing additional effort or consolidation. It is important to recognise the effort that has been displayed towards learning. Report time is a great opportunity to reflect on his/her progress and to set new and achievable goals for next year.
Tell Them From Me Survey
Thank you to all those parents who have already taken the time to complete the Tell Them From Me survey. The parent survey window will remain open until Friday 21 October. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary however; your responses are very much appreciated. To log into the survey, go to the link below. As a school we constantly aim to work in partnership with the community to ensure the students are supported and given every opportunity to thrive. Feedback from this survey will allow us to continue to move forward and create further opportunities for students staff, and parents in the SIPPS community.

Music
How amazing were the children and their performances at the SIPPS Spectacular! I was so impressed with the children's enthusiasm to sing 'I Am Australian' and 'Absolutely Everyone'. I think you will agree with me that they definitely lifted the roof! There are some very special children I need to acknowledge: Darcy for her beautiful solo at the beginning of 'I Am Australian', for the group of singers who also featured in this song, to Liio for his solo in the Recorder Ensemble and in particular, young Jamie who played the violin during this item. These children willingly gave up their lunchtimes and sometimes, even their recess times to rehearse. Thank you very much children for your keenness, enthusiasm and talent. I am so proud of you.
