Principal's Message
Our Diversity Is Our Strength
42% of SIPPS students have a Language Background Other Than English (LBOTE). We acknowledged this and celebrated our diverse school community on Harmony Day. Our house captains and SRC leaders participated in a Bollywood incursion held at Sir Eric Woodward Memorial School. Please see their report later in this bulletin.
Egg-cellent Event!
I hope all students, staff and their families enjoyed the Easter break. This year's Easter Hat Parade and Book Fair were successful examples and celebrations of Effective Partnerships across our school community. The glorious autumn weather meant we could all enjoy the scheduled program that included class parades, finale dance, family picnics and shopping in the library. I would like to thank students and staff from Sir Eric Woodward School for joining us once again this year. I would also like to thank Mrs Apter and our student leadership team for coordinating and comparing the parade and Mrs Allman, SIPPS staff, P&C and parents who managed the book fair, bake sale and morning tea stall.

LEST WE FORGET
This Thursday April 7, we will hold our special ANZAC assembly at 9:30am in the hall. This will be run by our student leaders and it will feature a performance by our school choir and a special address from Dr Gi-Hyun Shin, Convenor Korean Studies School of Humanities and Languages UNSW Arts and Social Sciences. Student representatives from each class will be laying a posy of flowers at the base of the flag pole as a floral tribute. In addition this year our students will 'plant a field' of poppies in our new eco-garden as an additional symbol of commemoration. Parents and carers are most welcome to attend our special ANZAC assembly.
Tomorrow, our school captains and vice captains will be the school's representatives at the RSL and Schools Remember ANZAC Commemoration Service in Hyde Park Sydney where they will lay a wreath on behalf of our school community.
Winter School Uniform
Term 2 sees the official return of our school Winter Uniform. However, while we are transitioning into the cooler months (Weeks 1 & 2 only), students will be permitted to wear either their full summer or winter uniform to school. Parents are kindly asked to use their judgement and ensure that all students are in a correct school uniform which is either the full summer or winter uniform.
Holiday Eco-garden Roster
Thank you to class parents who are organising rosters and volunteers for watering class gardens over the upcoming autumn holidays. This will really provide a great start for the new seedlings that were recently planted by our students to launch our new eco-garden.
Happy Holidays
Best wishes to all SIPPS students and their families for a safe and relaxing autumn holiday. Once again the Helping Hands OOSH will be open for the pupil free staff development day on Tuesday 26 April. Please see the following flyer for more information. Year 6 leaders celebrate Harmony Day with SEWS!
On Monday the 21st of March the year 6 leaders celebrated Harmony Day by going to Sir Eric Woodward School to participate in their 'Bollywood' dance class. We overcame the bad weather on the day to get to their school and it was so worth it. This experience was amazing because we learnt a new skill and engaged with other students within our community. We loved seeing other students having fun by coming together to celebrate diversity as one. Our favourite part was when we did a 'dance off' between the two groups. We thought this experience was very worthwhile because we were able to engage in diverse hands on learning while practicing resilience, respect and responsibility within the community.
