Principal’s Message
P&C 2016
It was great to see good attendance at last week’s P&C’s Annual General Meeting. I took the opportunity on behalf of the school to thank all the outgoing executive officers for the wonderful and supportive role they have played in the life of our school and most importantly its students. The school would especially like to acknowledge Keith Oliver who has served on the SIPPS P&C for a period of 15 years many as President and Nadine Foley who has also volunteered much of her time and energy over the years as an office bearer and sub-committee member. We also appreciate greatly the contribution that Sony Robson who stepped in as Secretary this year. Also I would like to thank the Bright family who also after many years running P&C events and coordinating the canteen will be leaving the school at the end of this year.
Congratulations to the new office bearers who were elected last week. I am looking forward to working closely with the P&C to further enhance effective partnerships across the school that will support quality educational outcomes for our students. Please see the newly elected office bearers and sub-committee coordinators in the P&C report.
Eco-Garden Volunteers
Students have already planted seeds in new garden beds that were constructed and filled by parents at a special working bee recently. Thank you to the mums and dads who volunteered their time and energy to filling the beds ready for planting. Thank you to Mrs Cameron and Mrs Field who have been the teacher representatives on this new initiative to help students learn about sustainable living.
Thank you morning tea
On Wednesday 2 December, the staff would like to thank all volunteers who work in our school at a special morning tea in their honour. On this occasion we will recognise ongoing contributions of our scripture teachers, P&C representatives, parent volunteers who assist in classrooms, on excursions. We hope to see many members of our school community next Wednesday to thank you for your time and effort this year in supporting our students and their learning.
Parent Forum
Next Monday 30 November, we are holding our final Parent Forum in the staffroom at 2:30pm. On this occasion there will be a representative from ScopeIT to talk about a proposed coding program that will run next year in Term 2. Coding is considered as one of the essential skills for 21st Century learners and I would like to take this opportunity to get some feedback from parents on this proposal.
Upcoming Events
Our Semester 2 Gold assembly will be held at 2:20pm on Wednesday 2 December in our school hall. Our Year 6 students have been working hard on plans for their annual mini fete which will be lots of fun for the whole school and generate funds for their present to the school, a lasting legacy from which SIPPS can remember them by.
Student leadership elections
Year 5 students who wish to nominate for leadership roles in 2016 will be ready to present their speeches on Thursday 3 December at 11:30am in the school hall. Posters of the nominees will be on display around the school from today. The elections will take place on Monday 7 December. Best wishes to all Year 5 students who are standing for election as 2016 school leaders.
Best Wishes

Ethics
Become a Primary Ethics Teacher at St. Ives Park Primary School
Primary Ethics provides the opportunity for NSW public primary school students who don't attend scripture classes (SRE) to participate in philosophical ethics classes. We need a new volunteer to teach the Years 3 & 4 ethics class starting next year. The classes teach children how to approach ethical issues and develop their capacity for considered moral judgment, which will enable them to respond more thoughtfully to many of the problems and issues they will face in their lives. Volunteer Ethics Teachers are trained to deliver our age-appropriate curriculum every week and to use the accompanying learning and teaching materials. For more information about the role and to volunteer, please go to
